Anyone for icecream?

The Academy Shopping Centre is pleased to announce the arrival of it's latest store - Baskin Robbins

On Friday 25th June, Baskin Robbins is due to open it's new ice cream cafe located on the entrance to the courtyard.

For over 65 years Baskin Robbin’s has been delighting customers with irresistible treats and are now the world's largest chain of ice cream speciality shops, with more than 6,000 retail shops in 40 countries.

In addition to developing flavours, Baskin-Robbins has always been a leader in the ice cream industry with innovations such as hand-packed ice cream, a unique flavour ribbon technique, the use of traditional dessert ingredients such as apple pie and cheesecake, and the introduction of mousse-textured ice creams. The commitment of Baskin-Robbins to creating new products is evident with the introduction of signature ice cream cakes and the growing line of beverages, including Fruit Blasts®, and the Cappuccino Blast® frozen-blended coffee drinks, which innovated the frozen coffee category in 1994.

Baskin-Robbins is known for its "31 flavours" slogan. The idea for having 31 flavours came from their advertising agency in 1953, along with the slogan "Count the Flavours. Where flavour counts." 31 was also more than the 28 flavours then famously offered at Howard Johnson's restaurants. In addition, the number 31 was chosen so a customer could have a different flavour every day of the month (assuming a 31 day month). Burt and Irv also believed that people should be able to sample flavours until they found one they wanted to buy ― hence the iconic small pink spoon.
